At Center For Discovery, each member of our team is a highly trained healthcare professional. Members of our staff are carefully selected to ensure licensure, certification, experience, training, education and practical skills. Center For Discovery team members are passionate about helping adult women dealing with disordered eating and we are deeply committed to the overall, long-term healing and well-being of each of our residents. Chief Executive Officer

CEO and co-founder Craig Brown is committed to improving the overall quality of life for our clients and their families. His specialty is residential treatment of eating disorders. Drawing from nearly thirty years of treating and managing effective programs for eating disorders, Dr. Brown has developed successful treatment methods that produce dramatic and enduring change. A strong advocate of the family systems model of treatment, Dr. Brown considers the family to be an essential element in every treatment experience at Center for Discovery. He and his staff work closely to help clients and their families in each step of their transformational journey. After receiving his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Memphis State University in 1986, Dr. Brown now sponsors multiple academic scholarships for training the school’s best-in-class clinicians.

Mark Hobbins

Mark Hobbins
President and Chief Operating Officer

Mark Hobbins is widely recognized as one of the nation's leading experts on adolescent treatment, parenting, and family issues. Mr. Hobbins has pursued his mission of strengthening families for over 25 years, co-founding one of the largest organizations of treatment programs for troubled youth and their families in the nation. He has authored and co-authored dozens of articles, courses and workbooks to help parents improve their parenting skills and strengthen their families. Mr. Hobbins also founded one of the nation's leading online resources for parenting and relationship education. Mr. Hobbins has served as an expert consultant for numerous media organizations such as CBS, NBC, People Magazine, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times. Mr. Hobbins has also acted as a consultant and made appearances on several television shows including BRAT CAMP, Britain's Youngest Boozers, A&E Intervention, Tyra Banks and Dr. Phil.

Robert Weitzman

Robert Weitzman
Chief Financial Officer

Robert Weitzman has been a senior financial executive in the healthcare industry for more than twenty years for companies which experienced explosive growth during his tenure. Prior to his involvement in healthcare, Mr. Weitzman was in the financial services industry including being the CFO and COO of a national full service securities firm with over 200 branch offices. He is both a CPA and an attorney and serves as the CFO and General Counsel for Center for Discovery. In these capacities, he is responsible for the Accounting and Treasury Departments, the Business Office and the Legal Department. Mr. Weitzman graduated cum laude from Southwestern University School of Law. While in law school, he authored a personal property tax article which was cited by the United States Supreme Court and resulted in a sweeping change to personal property tax law nationwide.

Greg Corbin

Greg Corbin, M.A., M.F.T.
Director of Quality Improvement

Greg Corbin has worked in the field of mental health for more than thirty-three years and has extensive experience treating both adolescents and adults. Mr. Corbin spent the first fifteen years of his career as the Program Administrator for a long-term treatment program for youth. He has served as Director for multiple mental health treatment programs at the inpatient, outpatient and residential levels of care. Mr. Corbin previously managed and facilitated a series of seminars, providing presentations on mental health and wellness. He also served as a Long Beach City Commissioner for the Commission on Youth. Mr. Corbin joined the Center For Discovery in 1997 as Director of Quality Management. His primary responsibilities are to facilitate quality improvement, licensing and accreditation activities across all facilities.

Jennifer Gorman

Jennifer Gorman
Director of Operations: Eating Disorders Division; Utilization Review Specialist

Jennifer Gorman has been specializing in the treatment of eating disorders and related issues since 1991. She received her education at the University of Arizona and the University of Phoenix, earning a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology in 1993. Prior to joining the Center For Discovery team in 2002, she served as a Primary Therapist, Director of Outpatient Programs and Director of Family Therapy programs at two well-known treatment centers in Arizona. At Center For Discovery Ms. Gorman has been Program Director at both the Lakewood and Whittier facilities. In her current position she is responsible for overseeing the daily operations at all of Center For Discovery's eating disorders facilities, providing support and guidance to the treatment teams. She also provides training and supervision to all of the clinicians in the area of utilization review, which assures that Center For Discovery clients are able to receive payment from their insurance providers while they receive the care that they need.

Amy Brown

Director of Operations: Dual Diagnosis Division

After completing her Master's degree in Psychology at Pepperdine University, Amy Brown began working to help individuals and families find healing and hope. Ms. Brown came to Center For Discovery with extensive experience managing various eating disorder programs as well as behavioral health facilities. Under Ms. Brown's leadership, Center For Discovery's substance abuse and mental health programs have flourished and Ms. Brown now oversees numerous mental health and substance abuse programs throughout southern California. Ms. Brown feels very deeply about the contribution she is making to improve the quality of life for adolescents and their families. One of the things that attracted Ms. Brown to Center For Discovery was the shared commitment to providing the best quality of care to each patient and his or her family.

Jennifer Henretty

Jennifer Henretty, PhD, CEDS

Director of Outcomes and Research

Dr. Jen Henretty graduated summa cum laude with her BA from Ohio Wesleyan University before going on to earn her MS and PhD from the University of Memphis. While attending the University of Memphis, Dr. Henretty was awarded the prestigious S. Howard Bartley Scholar Award and the Society of Psychotherapy Research’s Enrico E. Jones Memorial Award. Dr. Henretty has been in the therapeutic industry for 15 years, treating eating disorders in both adolescent and adult populations and in all levels-of-care: inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient settings. She has authored multiple publications, in such journals as Psychotherapy Research, Clinical Psychology Review, and the Journal of Counseling Psychology, and has functioned as an eating disorder subject expert on the Answers 4 The Family radio show, on the Dr. Phil television show, and for the LA Times newspaper. Dr. Henretty is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) and has spoken at local, national, and international conferences; serves as president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp); is a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED); and has practiced as an eating disorder therapist, Program Director, and the Director of Outcomes & Research for Center for Discovery.

Julia Cassidy

Julia Cassidy, RD, CEDRD
Director of Dietary Services

Julia Cassidy is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and has worked at Center For Discovery for over 10 years. She develops and maintains Center For Discovery's nutrition program and oversees its implementation at each of Center For Discovery's programs nationwide. Julia believes that having a healthy relationship with food is the baseline to attaining the tools necessary on the road to recovery. She is involved in providing up-to-date nutritional information to the community through guest speaking and maintaining corporate level training on Center For Discovery's nutrition program. Julia earned her Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from California State University-Long Beach and her Masters in Exercise Science and Fitness at California University of Pennsylvania.

Dawn Delgado, MS, LMFT, CEDS

Dawn Delgado, MS, LMFT, CEDS
Director of Outpatient Services

Dawn Delgado, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist has provided treatment, program development, and consultation services for eating disorders for over 13 years. She has dedicated herself to working with adolescents and adults recovering from eating disorders and co-occurring mental health issues in Southern California and overseas. Dawn has developed and operated residential, partial hospitalization/day treatment, intensive outpatient and transitional living programs nationwide. In addition to her tenure at Discovery, Dawn has maintained a private practice since 2007, is an active member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP), and is a former chair member of the Los Angeles chapter. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and uses this evidence based trauma treatment in her practice with clients. For several years Dawn shared her expertise overseas in a group practice in Bali, Indonesia, where she also consulted with hospitals and clinics in Bali, Singapore, and Java on eating disorder treatment.

Juli Agajanian

Juli Agajanian, MA, LMFT, CEDS-S
Regional Director

Juli has spent the last 13 years working with adolescents and their families in a variety of settings, and has been a Clinician and Program Director with Center For Discovery since 2007. She now is responsible for overseeing and training the clinical staff in the eating disorder division of Center For Discovery. Juli is a certified Eating Disorders Specialist and Supervisor. Her past experience includes serving as a Professional Assault Crisis Intervention Trainer, an in-home behavioral specialist for adolescents with serious emotional disturbances, and a clinician/supervisor in an Intensive Day Treatment. She has done numerous speaking engagements about eating disorders and body image at national Eating Disorder conferences, mental health clinics, girls' organizations, and various schools and colleges. Juli is passionate about her work and especially enjoys helping clients reconnect with their families through the process of family therapy.

Perla Vilhjalmsdottir

Perla Vilhjalmsdottir, MA, MS, LMFT
Regional Director

Perla completed her undergraduate studies at The University of Iceland where she studied Early Childhood Development. She completed two master's degrees at California State University, Los Angeles, the first one in Research Psychology, focusing on multi-cultural issues and conflict resolution between adolescents and their parents and was awarded by the American Psychological Association for outstanding research. The second master's degree she completed in Marriage and Family Therapy. Perla has over 12 years of experience working with both adolescent and adult populations with eating disorders and co-occurring disorders in inpatient, residential, and day treatment settings.

Robyn Welk-Richards

Robyn Welk-Richards, PhD, LCSW, MSW
Executive Director, Midwest/East Coast

Dr. Robyn Welk-Richards has been specializing in the treatment of eating disorders for nine years. She obtained her PhD in Clinical Social Work in 2012 from Loyola University Chicago where she focused her research studies on residential treatment of eating disorders and quality of life. She is passionate about understanding the impact that eating disorders have on an individual's quality of life and the impact of residential treatment therein. Philosophically, Dr. Welk-Richards believes that residential treatment is an integral level of care where we can target eating disorder symptoms and reconstruct a new-self, free from the eating disorder and other co-occurring disorders.

Her intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy has provided Dr. Welk-Richards with a solid clinical foundation in treating adolescents and providing them with healthy alternatives to their eating disorder lifestyle. On top of her DBT foundation she believes eclecticism and creativity are imperative when helping individuals find their path in recovery. Dr. Welk-Richards has participated in research projects as well as provided a number of public speaking engagements locally and nationally about the treatment of eating disorders.

Alexia Mowry

Alexia Mowry, M.A.
Director of Clinical Outreach

Prior to joining the Center For Discovery team in 2007, Alexia Mowry worked for several years as an Account Executive and New Business Development specialist at a San Diego advertising agency. Her experience there included brand development, campaign management and execution, and creative strategy. Ms. Mowry taught Severely Emotionally Disturbed youth. This experience ignited her passion for providing support to families with children in need of mental health services. Ms. Mowry is an active member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP), and is currently the CFO of the San Diego Chapter. Ms. Mowry earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in Political Science and English. She completed her Master's degree at San Diego State University in Communications with an emphasis in Advertising and Media.

Rachel Wood

Rachel Wood, Ph.D.
Executive Director of Admissions and Business Relations

Dr. Rachel Wood is a licensed clinical psychologist and the Executive Director of Admissions and Business Relations at Center For Discovery. Rachel has served as Primary Therapist, Clinical Advisor to the Admissions Department and, most recently, Director of Admissions. Dr. Wood has been working in the mental health field for over years and has experience in all levels of care (outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, residential and inpatient hospitalization). She earned her Masters of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from California School of Professional Psychology, San Francisco. During the course of her education, she spent many years working with adults with mental health, substance use, and eating disorders. Rachel also earned a clinical and research placement at Children's Hospital Oakland where she spent years working with children and adolescents with trauma and gaining a greater understanding of the relationship between the brain and behavior.

Center For Discovery Center For Discovery has been providing residential treatment for women and teens for over years. At Center For Discovery, we provide residential treatment for women with eating disorders, teens with eating disorders, teens with mental health disorders, and teens with substance abuse issues.
