Legal Issues

Legal issues amongst adolescents can vary in severity. An adolescent can get in trouble for possession of a substance such as marijuana, prescription drugs. In addition, many adolescents can get in trouble for drinking and driving, having open containers of alcohol or being intoxicated in public.

Legal issues do not have to encompass substance abuse problems. They can also mean running away, severe truancy and other behaviors such a shoplifting, inappropriate “sexting” and driving without a license.

Many families are torn apart when their adolescent gets in serious trouble due to their behavior or substance abuse. Center for Discovery is very apt in working with families alongside with court systems, probation officers, and attorneys. We know that many adolescents that come to one of our programs with legal issues must maintain certain behavior, with proper reporting to the officials, to show that they are in compliance.

Center for Discovery will work with your family to not only meet the requirements necessary of law enforcement but begin to look at the underneath psychological or substance abuse issues that diverted an adolescent from the straight and narrow.
