James D. "Buck" Runyan, MS, LMFT, LPC, CEDS
The Integration of Imagery and Family Sculpting: A Family Systems Approach to Treating Eating Disorders

Buck Runyan is currently the Chief Operations Officer at Center for Discovery. In his role he has oversight over Center for Discovery’s four eating disorder residential treatment facilities. He is also the founder of Eating Disorder Recovery Services, which has specialties in intensive outpatient services for eating disorder clients, treatment for Self Mutilation, Gastric Surgery Assessments, and Counseling programs. Buck has held positions as the Program Administrator for San Bernardino Mental Health Court Pegasus Program and the Founding Director of the Remuda Ranch Adolescent Center in Wickenburg, AZ. He continues to present regularly in educational and professional settings on a local, national and international basis. Buck currently is the sitting Chairperson for the Southern California IAEDP Chapter and maintains his credentials as Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona. Buck was formally educated at California Baptist University completing a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology in 1992.

Rachel Liger, MS, RD
Nutrition Therapy in Eating Disorders

Rachel Liger is a registered dietician and has served as the Director of Nutrition Services at Center for Discovery for over the past seven years. At the center, Rachel is credited with the development of the nutrition program that now extends to Discovery's four residential facilities. Rachel utilizes innovative approaches and paradoxical methods for nutrition education and re-feeding of malnourished individuals. Additionally, she lectures extensively in the community and serves as an adjunct professor at California State University Long Beach. Rachel has developed a dietary mentoring program that has served to educate students and RD interns about the sensitive nature of the dietary management of eating disorders. She received her masters from California State University Long Beach and while there designed and implemented an original clinical trial study on the effectiveness of the dietician for weight loss management when medications are used.

Brian Holt, MD, MPH
The Role of Psychopharmology in Treating Eating Disorders

This presentation will include a basic overview of the role of psychopharmacology in the treatment and management of patients with eating disorders. A specific focus is made on the various co-morbid psychopathologies common in patients with eating disorders and their management. All major categories of psychopharmacological agents will be covered including antidepressants, mood stabilizers, neuroleptics, anxiolytics, and sedative/hypnotics. Also included is basic data concerning efficacy, mechanism of action and side effects.
