Nutritional Program

The goal of the nutritional program at Center for Discovery is to help our residents develop more autonomy and ultimately listen to their own body signals around hunger and fullness. Center for Discovery provides one private session and 2-hour didactic nutritional groups a week. These groups are designed to be fun, interactive and engaging to ensure participants understand what they are learning about nutrition. We offer hands-on exposure to food preparation, restaurant outings, and variety of settings and food types. We provide a paradoxical approach so residents are exposed to high challenge situations in a therapeutic and nurturing environment. Dieticians are available over 20-hours weekly and on weekends to prepare our residents for discharge. Center for Discovery also provides the Therapeutic Family Meal as an integral part of our treatment program that assists parents in learning how to gently and effectively address their adolescents' disordered eating.
