Center for Discovery's residential treatment program provides help to male and female adolescents (ages 10 - 19 years old) struggling with eating disorder issues. Our treatment philosophy is based on a strategic and carefully designed process of addressing the complex nature of psychological, physical and behavioral problems. We understand there are a multitude of overwhelming factors coming together and affecting the adolescent on a daily basis. Residential treatment is often necessary to allow the adolescent to spend time in a safe and nurturing environment to identify fundamental processes and begin the road to recovery.
We believe adolescents are best served when the whole family participates in treatment. Families are provided numerous opportunities on a weekly basis to develop effective relationship and communication skills that will assist the adolescent to successfully overcome maladaptive behaviors. We also provide families with the Discovery Therapeutic Family Meal, where the family is gently coached on how to effectively help their teen around eating behaviors. The goal for each member of the family is to become knowledgeable, confident and well-prepared to effectively support long-term recovery in the adolescent's daily life. The strategic therapeutic focus at Discovery aims to help the family understand the origins, developmental sequence, function and purpose of the eating disorder.
